Schedule / Agenda, Español,
My teaching of tango stresses the natural organic movements of our bodies to dance a dance full of passion, joy and also melancholy. The heavenly embrace of the tango is all important, as it transmits energy, ideas, feelings. I also stress the tango walk, because a walk that flows with control and stability is the essence of tango. I also teach correct posture, flexibility of the body, change of weight in the right moments to keep the bodies flowing in the dance. I dance and teach both roles of man and woman, leader and follower.
Other essential tango movements I teach include the varieties of forward and backward ochos; the various types of giros that the man does and the woman around the man; various types of voleos, the varieties of ganchos, etc.
Moreover, I believe that communicating with your partner, dancing with your partner, having a conversation with your partner using as vocabulary the movements of the tango is very important. Also, musicality is very important, which means not merely hearing the music but listening to it, feeling it, understanding it, and interpreting it through the dance. We work with the various tango rhythms, the tango itself, the tango waltz and the milonga.
The exercises that I give you will increase your balance, agility and dance reflexes, and will allow you to dance to your utmost ability.
Furthermore, I teach ways to improvise to the music, putting the moves that you have learned together in order to interpret tango music. Improvising is an art; “listening” to your partner in the tango is an art (as in life), and dancing the tango well is an art.
IN my classes and workshops, we will work on the heavenly embrace of the tango, the essential tango walk, giros, voleos, adornments, musicality, creativity and improvisation—all of its secrets. In addition, I will share with you my philosophy of tango movement, the mechanics of tango, upper body / lower body dissociation, the meditation of tango, the surrender of self in the tango, drawing with your body, always striving for elegance while dancing.
Salon and milonguera style; the Milonga. The complications of the tango. The history of the tango. Everything you can use on the dance floor!
